I’m happy to announce that Intuito Websites is now an official partner of shopping cart provider BigCommerce. We just got approved a few days ago, and as luck would have it there was a partner training meeting happening in Seattle on the same date that we got the approval. I love these guys. They had a free training session at the Edgewater on the Seattle waterfront. Some great food, and drinks and they were very friendly and helpful. Plus I won a backpack raffle! Compare to other larger companies that will charge partners to attend training.
The BigCommerce is focused on a making the best eCommerce platform:
- The shopping cart and user data is stored on their servers for compliance and security. This is great stuff. Neither you nor I want to have to deal with PCI compliance and monitoring the security of our user accounts.
- They can handle very large product databases.
- Their cloud servers are designed for scalability so that crashes due to traffic spikes are a thing of the past. There’s nothing worse than your store crashing precisely because people are buying more products!
- There are many ways of integrating BigCommerce’s shopping cart, including just using it for the mere purchase. The rest of the site could be located on a difference platform, like WordPress, or something custom. Alternately, BigCommerce also provides a fully featured content management system on their servers. Options are good!
As for actually making client websites, this falls almost entirely on partner agencies, working in collaboration with both the client and BigCommerce.
You’ll be hearing more from us about BigCommerce in the future. If you want to talk about getting into eCommerce, or if you want to move over from another provider, like for example Magento, Shopify, or WordPress’ Woocommerce, let’s talk!
And just for fun, here’s a chart that compares BigCommerce and Magento:
